By Americans For Safe Access
Published August 31, 2010

Join us for an evening of Legal Cannabis Institute's panel of attorneys discussing cannabis business law and criminal law. Be safe, be informed, and be prepared for possible legal situations in the MMJ business field. This is a special evening only available to canna-business professionals.

Learn about cannabis business law:
- Is your collective fully complaint with Prop 215 and SB 420?
- Do you have the proper incorporation documents that contain all the proper legal language?
- What should we do about the Cease and Desist Letters?
- Will the City Attorney actually act on these letters and file suit?
- How does the Anaheim decision affect you?
- What will be the ordinances for San Diego City and San Diego County?
- When will these ordinances go into effect?

Learn about cannabis criminal law:
- What do you do if you are being questioned?
- How do you defend marijuana charges?
- How do you lawfully transport medical cannabis on behalf of a collective?
- What are the things to do to comply with state law?
- What should members of a collective do if police raids the facility?
- What should you do if police raid a collective cultivation site?

LCI Faculty:

Kimberly Simms, Esq - MMJ Business Law

Kimberly R. Simms became a member of the California State Bar in 2009. She is also licensed to practice in the United States District Court for the Southern District of California. After graduating law school, Ms. Simms formed her own law practice focusing on collective formation, qualified patient representation, criminal defense, civil litigation and zoning and municipal law. Kimberly is dedicated to helping her clients and providing the best quality of representation tailored to fit each client's personal needs and goals. Kimberly is also vocal advocate in the medical marijuana community and helping to rebuild a new NORML Chapter in San Diego.

Lance Rogers, Esq - Criminal Defense

Attorney Lance Rogers is a local trial attorney and a pioneer in the Medical Marijuana Defense. In 2009, Mr. Rogers won the high profile acquittal of Answerdam Collective member, Jovan Jackson, and beat all felony marijuana charges brought by the San Diego District Attorney’s Office. This public blow to the DA’s anti-marijuana campaign set the stage for other marijuana acquittals throughout the county. In addition to state and federal criminal cases, Mr. Rogers handles marijuana DUI cases, asset forfeiture proceedings, and immigration consequences resulting from marijuana arrests.

This special evening will sell out. Reserve early to get your ticket to the most important information about the cannabis industry’s legal landscape.
